Meaning, things don't have to necessarily match. The whole family doesn't have to be in the same shirt or even the same exact colors. Some people apply the "less is more" to their dress, but there is nothing wrong with a little snap and color to the outfits.

~School's Out!~

School's out? Huh? Well, no, school is still in major swing for the year, but we are closing in on Christmas like a pregnant woman closes in on her favorite candy bar. Which means, YOU NEED TO SCHEDULE YOUR FAMILY PICTURES FOR YOUR CHRISTMAS CARD NOW!!! Don't wait until the last minute like you did last year and the year before that. Be ready! Be prepared! Many schools are going on fall break in the next week or two so when often times you have super stacked weekends you can take advantage of having no school and get pictures during the day! ~Senior Pictures~

When is it a good time to take senior pictures? At Dgalleries we think that ANY time is a good time! Depending on what kind of pictures you are looking for we have probably shot in that environment. We also have a very large studio that we use to shoot everywhere. So if you don't want to go out, we can definitely stay in! This is one of the best parts about our studio. We have a permanent location with regular business hours so you will get a hold of someone when you call. We do not work out of a home or a coffee shop and we have been in business for over 60 years.
Here are some examples of pictures we have taken in our studio.

When planning your portrait session tell the photographer what you are looking for. Some seniors like the unusual posing while others want their pictures to look like everyone else. A new style that has been emerging is the more dramatic style where lighting is everything and still others prefer to show their fun-loving personality. What is your style?

~Birth is Beautiful~

The birth of a child is such a miraculous and beautiful event in the life of every parent. Having kids of my own I have often wondered what things I miss since I am very focused on the task at hand. What is my husband doing? What is the look on his face when he sees our child for the first time? What else is going on in the room? What are the nurses doing to prepare?

These are things that I miss out on and I would really like to be able to look back and either remember or know that they were happening. So, as I am about to have my final child (knock on wood) here in a couple of months I asked our studio manager, Mandy, if she would be willing to take documentary style pictures at the birth. They will, of course, be non-gross. I don't want to see or touch anything graphic, but I do want to look back and remember those beautiful first moments of meeting my child for the first time. Though I am only doing this for my final child (knock on wood) it would symbolize for me the birth of the rest of my children as well.

This choice is not for everyone, but I think it will be a nice memory for me. I am going to take the birthing pictures as well as the maternity and newborn and make a coffee table style book. Our album designer here at Dgalleries is very creative and does a great job with each and every design she undertakes. I believe it will be something I cherish for the rest of my life.

~Newborn Portraits~

You can tell from our website that we LOVE shooting newborns portraits! We find many creative ways to position the babies and many fun things to put them on or put them in! The question becomes when is the best time to photograph a newborn?

We like to schedule our newborn pictures between 3-10 days after birth. At this early age the baby is sleeping most of the time and their little bodies are easily malleable. Because they haven't figured out yet that they can stretch and take up more room we can fit them into small places and strange positions.

~Getting the most out of your portrait session~

Many times when parents come in with their small children they feel the need to not only make sure their children behave, but they want their kids to display the best photogenic personality. At some places, where photographers are not as experienced, this is necessary. Because that is the norm at most department store studios many parents feel that it is normal everywhere.

At Dgalleries we have two experienced photographers that are very good with children. Often times the parents don't need to do anything when they bring their kids to visit us! Each session is an hour long and we design our sessions to meet the needs of each individual child. The photographers usually spend the first several minutes getting to know your child and making them feel comfortable. This in turn will make you feel more comfortable and be able to relax and know that you are going to get the best possible pictures of your child.

When there are too many directions given to the child it causes confusion and that confusion reflects in the pictures. The child does not know where to look or how to pose. It can also cause kids to become upset and cry.

When parents leave the direction and creativeness to our photographers they will be very pleased with the results. The child will be more comfortable and the pictures will reflect this.

So sit back and relax! Let the photographer do all the work! You just enjoy watching your child have fun and take FABULOUS pictures!

Crazy crazy CRAZY!! Kids Fair USA was INSANE! I'm not sure we were in the best location due to the fact that we were so close to the stage that every time our good friends from M&M Productions announced anything there was LOTS of screaming! It was fun though. We LOVE the music those guys play. If ever there is a reason for you to hire a DJ, M&M Productions is the way to go. Fun guys and good music!

Here we are in March Madness! The year is already slipping by and we are now stumbling upon spring and warmer weather. A GREAT time to schedule outside pictures!

Kids Fair USA is also right around the corner. If you have never been to Kids Fair USA before then let me enlighten you! It is a FANTASTIC place to find resources, ideas and plans for activities for the whole family. There will be hundreds of exhibitors showcasing quality children's fashions and other products. It promises to have everything your kids want and need. There will also be chances to win prizes and great gifts as well as discounted services available exclusively for fair attendees.

Featured at the fair will be family entertainment for all ages including rides and activities for the kids and a wide range of products and information for the parents that is focused on bringing families closer together.

Several of our lovely ladies took a road trip in January to the Dallas Market and brought back some fabulous items for our boutique! They bought frames of various sizes and several vibrant colors.

Another very fun find was small jewelry frames. We have a locket necklace, bracelets and key chain. The wonderful thing about these little goodies is that we can upload pictures from your photo session onto the company website and they will print the right size to fit in your frame!

Something we also offer is albums. We have been doing wedding ones for some time now, but we now offer portrait setting albums. These make GREAT brag books or gifts for grandparents!

This past weekend we went to Enid and had a booth at the Enid Bridal Show. Yes, you may think it strange that we had a booth at a bridal show, but since it was in the mall and anyone could come in we decided it would be fun!
As is our style, we tend to blow people out of the water with our decor. We took couches, tables, very large and very heavy backdrops, easels and framed portraits. Many people walked by and were in awe of our set up, however, there were also people that took one look and practically ran away! This was a very strange concept for us to understand and the only conclusion we could come to was that perhaps we had gone too far and made possible customers think we were too expensive! This is so very much..............untrue. We think everyone deserves beautiful pictures of their loved ones. We just also think that while you are getting those pictures you should also have an enjoyable time! We want to leave with our customers a lasting impression that carries only positive memories. With that said we also like to do it in style! We may be a little over the top, but that is half the fun! We enjoy going out and meeting people and we like to do it in a BIG way!
